A New World Of Seeing

Christine is lying on a mat on the floor of my studio, her hands covering her eyes. Our session has just started. She’s quiet and I wait patiently. Her breathing deepens; she seems more relaxed than when she arrived. I ask her to pay attention to her body and to let me know if she notices anything. “My eyes are tired,” she tells me. “What does it feel like?” I ask. “It feels like they are very, very heavy,” she says. “Let them be heavy,” I suggest. She exhales deeply and all of a sudden, she seems even more relaxed. Her breathing deepens more. “My entire body is heavy now,” she says. “That’s excellent,” I tell her. “Can you let it be that way?” She nods and I see her belly falling. She stays this way for a long moment; then her belly fills up with air again. We’re both silent. Christine is focused on her body, and I record every slight movement that I notice. Such rhythmic, calm breathing. Her feet begin to move. “Let your feet lead the way,” I suggest. “You see everything!” she tells me with a giggle. She draws her toes away from each other as much as she can. Then she curls them in just before stretching them out again, taking a deep breath. She continues to alternate between toes spreading and toes curling. Then she moves her hands from her eyes, and now her hands do the same as her toes: fingers spreading away from each other, then curling into the palms of her hands. Her eyebrows draw up towards her hairline and her nostrils flare. “This is so good, I can continue all day,” she tells me. “Sounds like a good idea to me,” I say. Several minutes later she stops and rocks her feet gently from side to side. Later, the rocking changes its direction. Now her feet rock back and forth, and her body begins to rock from the tips of her toes to the top of her head. She looks content. At the end of our session, she’s still on her back, her arms spread up above her head. I have been silent for much of the time, watching her work and listening to her comments. I ask her how she’s feeling. Turning to lie on her side looking at me she says, “I’m breathing so well! I feel like I never had so much oxygen in my body. I didn’t know I could breathe so deeply yet so effortlessly!” Thirty minutes later I received a text message from her: “It’s the funniest thing! When I got home and looked for my front door key, I realized that my glasses were still in their case. Everything looked so clear that I forgot that I wasn’t wearing them!” After this experience, Christine began questioning whether she really needed her glasses. She decided to go for walks in the park and on the beach without them. By the time we finished working together, she had stopped wearing her glasses altogether. She was 62 when we started our sessions. She had worn glasses since she was 17. We never once addressed her vision during our time together. She had come to me because of digestive issues.

The session with Christine is the opening scene of a chapter I wrote for a new book that was published last month. The book is called A New World of Seeing, an anthology featuring 43 global leaders in the field of Natural Vision Improvement. These include optometrists, ophthalmologists, osteopaths, researchers, psychologists, holistic vision experts, natural vision educators, university professors, and bestselling authors, all sharing transformational approaches to improving eyesight naturally—without glasses, contacts, or surgery.

The book is aimed at people who want to deepen their understanding of natural vision improvement, especially practitioners and trainees. It became a bestseller overnight in all of its categories and has received wonderful reviews.

In my chapter, I discuss the Paula Method and how our eyes and vision can improve by simply balancing the body and allowing it to lead the way in its healing process.

Being part of this book has been a great experience for me, and I truly hope the insights shared can help others in their vision improvement path.

You can find the book on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle versions. You can also buy it here. If you read the book, I’d love to hear your thoughts if you like to share them with me. Please also consider leaving a review on Amazon or sharing it with someone who might benefit from it.
