Paula Method Fundamentals

Welcome to Paula Method Fundamentals. The Paula Method was developed by Paula Garbourg, author of The Secret of the Ring Muscles. Her work revealed how ring muscles affect every function in the body, and inspired the gentle, effective approach you’ll practice in this program.

In this program you’ll find thirty essential exercises to help you start learning the Paula Method and practicing on your own.

This course is designed as a gradual path. You’ll discover new exercises along the way, but the real progress comes from practicing slowly and giving each exercise enough time before moving on. There is no rush – your own pace and consistency are what matter most.

You’ll also find videos that introduce the ideas behind the Paula Method. These videos focus on the most important aspects of our work: gentleness, body awareness, and chain reactions.

It is important to understand that Paula Method exercises are taught without modeling. Instead of a visual demonstration, you will learn the name of the exercise and receive a brief explanation of how it can be done.

With each exercise video you’ll find exercise notes. If you’d like, you can keep a special notebook for your practice, as is often done in Paula Method lessons. This notebook is not only for writing down the exercises, but also for recording your experiences: the changes you notice, the insights that come up, the sensations in your body, and the feelings that arise during practice. Taking the time to reflect in writing can help you deepen your learning and become more aware of the process.

The Paula Method teaches people to connect with their bodies from a place of exploration and playfulness. You should enjoy practicing and feel no strain or discomfort at any point, not even while doing the exercises for the first time. If you feel any discomfort, stop, rest, and try the exercise again, slower and more gently.
